  In this case, the police didn't know the suspect beforehand; they identified him through investigation.

هناك مثال آخر:

• Recognize:

  • English: I recognized the melody from my childhood.
  • Arabic: تعرفت على اللحن من طفولتي.

  You knew the melody before.

• Identify:

  • English: The expert was able to identify the type of bird from its song.
  • Arabic: استطاع الخبير تحديد نوع الطائر من صوته.

  The expert may have never heard that specific bird's song before, but he used his expertise to identify it.

لاحظ الفرق؟ "Recognize" يستخدم عندما تكون لديك معرفة مسبقة بشيء ما، بينما "identify" يستخدم عندما تحدد هوية شيء ما، سواء كنت تعرفه من قبل أم لا، باستخدام أدلة أو معلومات.
