"Demand" અને "require" બંને શબ્દોનો અર્થ "માંગ કરવી" કે "જરૂરિયાત" જેવો જ લાગે છે, પણ તેમનો ઉપયોગ જુદા જુદા સંદર્ભોમાં થાય છે. "Demand" એટલે કોઈ વસ્તુની જોરદાર માંગ કરવી, ઘણીવાર કોઈ અધિકાર કે શક્તિના ઉપયોગથી. જ્યારે "require" એટલે કોઈ વસ્તુની જરૂર હોવી, કોઈ કામ પુરું કરવા માટે જરૂરી હોય તે. "Demand" માં એક તીવ્રતા અને દબાણ છુપાયેલું હોય છે, જ્યારે "require" માં નિયમ કે જરૂરિયાતનો ભાવ વધુ પ્રબળ હોય છે.

• Demand: The customer demanded a refund. (ગ્રાહકે રિફંડની માંગ કરી.) Here, the customer is forcefully asking for a refund.

• Require: The job requires a degree in engineering. (આ નોકરી માટે એન્જિનિયરિંગની ડિગ્રી જરૂરી છે.) Here, a degree is a necessary condition for the job.

• Demand: The protestors demanded the release of the prisoners. (પ્રદર્શનકારીઓએ કેદીઓની મુક્તિની માંગ કરી.) This shows a strong request, almost an insistence.

• Require: This recipe requires two cups of flour. (આ રેસીપીમાં બે કપ લોટ જરૂરી છે.) This is a simple statement of necessity.

• Demand: She demanded an explanation. (તેણીએ સમજૂતીની માંગ કરી.) This implies a forceful request for an explanation.

• Require: The situation requires immediate action. (આ સ્થિતિ તાત્કાલિક કાર્યવાહીની માંગ કરે છે.) This highlights the urgent need for action.

આ ઉદાહરણો પરથી સ્પષ્ટ થાય છે કે "demand" અને "require" વચ્ચેનો મુખ્ય તફાવત તેમની તીવ્રતા અને દબાણના સ્તરમાં છે. "Demand" વધુ તીવ્ર અને જોરદાર હોય છે, જ્યારે "require" નિયમ કે જરૂરિયાત દર્શાવે છે.
