"Traditional" અને "customary" બે એવા શબ્દો છે જે ઘણીવાર એકબીજા સાથે ગૂંચવાય છે, ખાસ કરીને ગુજરાતીમાંથી ઈંગ્લિશ શીખતા ટીનેજર્સ માટે. પણ, તેમનો અર્થ થોડોક અલગ છે. ઉદાહરણ તરીકે:

• Traditional: "It's a traditional wedding ceremony." (એક પરંપરાગત લગ્ન સમારોહ છે.) This refers to a wedding ceremony that follows long-established customs passed down through generations.

• Customary: "It's customary to tip waiters in restaurants." (રેસ્ટોરન્ટમાં વેઈટર્સને ટીપ આપવી રૂઢિગત છે.) This refers to a practice that is commonly followed in a particular place or situation.

બીજું ઉદાહરણ:

• Traditional: "They celebrated Diwali with traditional sweets and fireworks." (તેમણે પરંપરાગત મીઠાઈઓ અને ફટાકડા સાથે દિવાળી ઉજવી.) Here, "traditional" points to the long-standing customs associated with Diwali celebrations.

• Customary: "It's customary to exchange gifts during Christmas." (ખ્રિસ્મસ દરમિયાન ભેટોનું આદાન-પ્રદાન કરવું રૂઢિગત છે.) This refers to a practice widely accepted during Christmas.

આ બે શબ્દો વચ્ચેનો ભેદ સમજવો મહત્વપૂર્ણ છે કારણ કે તેનો ઉપયોગ કરવાની રીત અલગ છે.
