ពាក្យ “bend” និង “curve” ក្នុងភាសាអង់គ្លេសសុទ្ធតែមានន័យថា “កោង” ប៉ុន្តែមានភាពខុសគ្នាខ្លះ។ “Bend” សំដៅលើការកោងយ៉ាងមុត ឬ មានជ្រុងច្បាស់លាស់ ខណៈដែល “curve” សំដៅលើការកោងដែលមានរាងស្លីម ឬ រលោង គ្មានជ្រុងច្បាស់លាស់។ យើងអាចគិតវាបានថា “bend” គឺជាការកោងដែលមានមុំ ខណៈ “curve” គឺជាការកោងដែលមានរាងរលូន។
