Doubt ಮತ್ತು Question ಎಂಬ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಪದಗಳು ಹೋಲುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿದರೂ, ಅವುಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವಿದೆ. Doubt ಎಂದರೆ ಏನೋ ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಅನುಮಾನ ಅಥವಾ ಅನಿಶ್ಚಿತತೆ. Question ಎಂದರೆ ಏನನ್ನಾದರೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಕೇಳುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ. Doubt ಒಂದು negative feeling ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ, Question ಒಂದು positive act of seeking knowledge ಆಗಿದೆ.

ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ:

• Doubt: I doubt his honesty. (ಅವನ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಅನುಮಾನವಿದೆ). Here, the speaker expresses uncertainty about the person's truthfulness. It’s a feeling of suspicion.
• Question: I questioned his honesty. (ನಾನು ಅವನ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದೆ). Here, the speaker is actively seeking information or clarification about the person's honesty. It’s an act of inquiry.

ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಉದಾಹರಣೆ:

• Doubt: I have doubts about the exam results. (ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಅನುಮಾನಗಳಿವೆ). This expresses uncertainty about the accuracy of the results.
• Question: I questioned the exam results. (ನಾನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದೆ). This implies that the speaker is challenging or investigating the results.
