“Ability” နဲ့ “Capability” ဆိုတဲ့ English vocabulary နှစ်လုံးဟာ တူတူ ထင်ရပေမယ့် သူတို့ရဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်မှာ ကွာခြားချက်ရှိပါတယ်။ “Ability” ဆိုတာက တစ်စုံတစ်ရာကို လုပ်နိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်၊ တတ်ကျွမ်းမှုကို ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး “Capability” ဆိုတာက တစ်စုံတစ်ရာကို လုပ်နိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်၊ တတ်ကျွမ်းမှုရှိတဲ့ လုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်စွမ်း ဒါမှမဟုတ် potential ကို ဆိုလိုတာပါ။ “Ability” က ပိုပြီး specific ဖြစ်ပြီး လက်တွေ့လုပ်နိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်ကို ပြောတာဖြစ်ပြီး “Capability” က general ပိုင်းဖြစ်ပြီး လုပ်နိုင်ခြေကို ပြောတာပါ။

ဥပမာ -

• He has the ability to speak three languages fluently. (သူဟာ ဘာသာစကားသုံးမျိုးကို ကျွမ်းကျင်စွာ ပြောနိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်ရှိတယ်။)

• The new software has the capability to process large amounts of data. (ဒီ software သစ်ဟာ data ပမာဏကြီးမားတွေကို လုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်ရှိတယ်။)

• She has the ability to play the piano beautifully. (သူမဟာ ပြာနိုသံကို လှလှပပ တီးနိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်ရှိတယ်။)

• Our company has the capability to deliver projects on time and within budget. (ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကုမ္ပဏီဟာ project တွေကို အချိန်မီ နဲ့ ဘတ်ဂျက်အတွင်း ပြီးစီးအောင် လုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်ရှိတယ်။)

• He demonstrated his ability to solve complex problems. (သူက ပြဿနာရှုပ်ထွေးတွေကို ဖြေရှင်းနိုင်တဲ့ သူ့ရဲ့ စွမ်းရည်ကို ပြသခဲ့တယ်။)

• This car has the capability to reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. (ဒီကားဟာ တစ်နာရီ 200 ကီလိုမီတာအထိ မြန်နိုင်တဲ့ စွမ်းရည်ရှိတယ်။)
