“Certain” နဲ့ “sure” ဆိုတဲ့ English word နှစ်လုံးဟာ တချို့အခြေအနေတွေမှာ တူညီတယ်လို့ထင်ရပေမယ့် သူတို့ရဲ့ nuance (အနက်အဓိပ္ပာယ် သေးသေးလေးတွေ) မှာ ကွာခြားချက်ရှိပါတယ်။ “Certain” ဆိုတာ အမှန်အကန်ဖြစ်မယ်ဆိုတာကို ယုံကြည်ချက် အပြည့်အဝရှိတဲ့အခါ သုံးပါတယ်။ “Sure” ကတော့ ယုံကြည်ချက်အပြည့်အဝမဟုတ်ဘဲ ယုံကြည်မှုအတိုင်းအတာတစ်ခုအထိ ရှိတဲ့အခါ သုံးပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် “sure” ဟာ informal (တရားဝင်မဟုတ်တဲ့) စကားပြောမှာ ပိုသုံးပါတယ်။

مثال ၁- English: I am certain that he will come. Burmese: သူ လာမယ်ဆိုတာ ငါ သေချာတယ်။

Here, “certain” emphasizes a strong conviction based on evidence or prior knowledge.

مثال ２- English: Are you sure you want to do that? Burmese: ဒါလုပ်ချင်တာ ဟုတ်လား? (or) ဒါ လုပ်မှ ဟုတ်ရဲ့လား?

This example shows how “sure” is often used in questions to express a degree of uncertainty or to confirm.

مثال ３- English: I'm sure I left my keys on the table. Burmese: ငါ့กุญแจ စားပွဲပေါ်မှာ ထားခဲ့တယ်လို့ ငါ ယုံကြည်တယ်။

In this case, “sure” expresses a belief, but not as strong a conviction as “certain”.

مثال ４- English: It's certain to rain tomorrow. Burmese: မနက်ဖြန် မိုးရွာမယ် သေချာတယ်။
