“Common” နဲ့ “ordinary” ဆိုတဲ့ အင်္ဂလိပ်စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ တခါတလေ တူညီတယ်လို့ထင်ရပေမယ့် သူတို့ရဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်မှာ ကွာခြားချက်ရှိပါတယ်။ “Common” ဆိုတာက တွေ့ရတာများတယ်၊ 흔하다는 ပုံမှန်တွေ့ရတယ်လို့ ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး “ordinary” ကတော့ ဘာမှ ထူးခြားမှုမရှိဘူး၊ ပုံမှန်ပဲလို့ ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။

ဥပမာ -

• Common: A common cold is a viral infection. (အကြာင်းမရှိအဖျားက ဗိုင်းရပ်စ်ကူးစက်မှု ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။) This sentence means that a common cold is something frequently encountered.

• Ordinary: She had an ordinary day at work. (သူမဟာ ပုံမှန်နေ့တစ်နေ့ကို အလုပ်မှာ ဖြတ်သန်းခဲ့ပါတယ်။) This sentence describes a day without any notable events.

• Common (used to describe frequency): Apples are a common fruit in this country. (ဒီနိုင်ငံမှာ ပန်းသီးဟာ 흔한 သီးနှံဖြစ်ပါတယ်။) Here common describes how often apples are found.

• Ordinary (used to describe lack of distinction): It was an ordinary house, nothing special about it. (အဲဒါက ပုံမှန်အိမ်တစ်လုံးပါ၊ ဘာမှ ထူးခြားမှုမရှိပါဘူး။) Here, ordinary highlights the lack of notable features.

“Common” ကို ပုံမှန်တွေ့ရတဲ့ အရာဝတ္ထုတွေ၊ ဖြစ်ရပ်တွေကို ဖော်ပြဖို့ သုံးပါတယ်။ “Ordinary” ကိုတော့ ထူးခြားမှုမရှိတဲ့၊ ပုံမှန်ပဲဖြစ်တဲ့ အရာဝတ္ထု၊ ဖြစ်ရပ်တွေကို ဖော်ပြဖို့ သုံးပါတယ်။
