"Constant" နဲ့ "continuous" ဆိုတဲ့ English စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ တူညီတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပါယ်မျိုးကို မပြောဘူးဆိုတာ သိထားသင့်ပါတယ်။ "Constant" ဆိုတာ တစ်စုံတစ်ခုက ရပ်တန့်မနေဘဲ တည်တံ့ ခိုင်မြဲစွာ ရှိနေတာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ "Continuous" ကတော့ တစ်စုံတစ်ခုက အဆက်မပြတ် ဆက်တိုက် ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ ဒီကွာခြားချက်လေးကို နားလည်ဖို့ ဥပမာ စာကြောင်းလေးတွေနဲ့ ကြည့်ကြရအောင်။

ဥပမာ-၁

• English: The machine makes a constant noise.
• Burmese: စက်က အမြဲတမ်း ဆူညံနေတယ်။ (The machine is always making noise.)

ဒီမှာ "constant" က စက်ရဲ့ ဆူညံသံက အဆက်မပြတ် ဆူညံနေတယ်လို့ မဆိုလိုပါဘူး။ တစ်ချိန်လုံး ဆူညံနေတယ်လို့ပဲ ဆိုလိုတာပါ။ ဆူညံသံရဲ့ အသံအတိုင်းအတာက တူညီနေနိုင်ပြီး ၊ တစ်ချိန်လုံး ဆူညံနေတာပါ။

ဥပမမာ-၂

• English: There was continuous rain for three days.
• Burmese: သုံးရက်လုံး မိုးအဆက်မပြတ် ရွာခဲ့တယ်။ (It rained continuously for three days.)

ဒီမှာတော့ "continuous" က မိုးရွာတာက အဆက်မပြတ် တိုက်ရိုက် ရွာနေတာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ ရပ်တန့်တာ မရှိဘူး။

ဥပမာ-၃

• English: He showed constant improvement in his studies.
• Burmese: သူ့ရဲ့ ပညာရေးမှာ အမြဲတမ်း တိုးတက်မှု ရှိခဲ့တယ်။ (He showed consistent improvement in his studies.)

ဒီမှာ "constant" က သူ့ရဲ့ တိုးတက်မှုက အမြဲတမ်း ရှိနေတယ်လို့ ဆိုလိုတာပါ။ တစ်နေ့ တစ်ချိန်မှာ တိုးတက်မှု ရပ်သွားတာ မရှိပါဘူး။

ဥပမာ-၄

• English: The continuous flow of water eroded the rocks.
• Burmese: ရေစီးဆင်းမှု အဆက်မပြတ် ကြောင့် ကျောက်တွေ ပျက်စီးခဲ့တယ်။ (The continuous flow of water eroded the rocks.)

ဒီမှာ "continuous" က ရေစီးဆင်းမှုက အဆက်မပြတ် ရှိနေတာကို ဆိုလိုတာပါ။ ရပ်တန့်တာ မရှိဘူး။
