"Depend" နဲ့ "rely" ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ အင်္ဂလိပ်စကားမှာ တစ်ခါတစ်ရံ အလားတူ သဘောတရားတွေကို ဖော်ပြတဲ့အတွက် ခြားနားချက်ကို သိဖို့ ခက်တယ်။ ဒါပေမယ့် သူတို့ရဲ့ အဓိပ္ပါယ်နဲ့ သုံးစွဲပုံမှာ ကွာခြားချက်တွေ ရှိပါတယ်။ "Depend" က တစ်ခုခုပေါ်မှာ တည်မှီနေတာ၊ တစ်ခုခုအပေါ်မှာ မှီခိုနေတာကို ဖော်ပြတယ်။ "Rely" ကတော့ တစ်ခုခုအပေါ်မှာ ယုံကြည်စွာ မှီခိုတာ၊ တစ်ခုခုကို ကြိုးစားအားထုတ်ပြီး မှီခိုတာကို ဖော်ပြတယ်။

ဥပမာ -

• I depend on my parents for financial support. (ကျွန်တော်/ကျွန်မဟာ ငွေကြေးအထောက်အပံ့အတွက် မိဘတွေကို မှီခိုပါတယ်။) This sentence shows a reliance that is often unavoidable.

• I rely on my alarm clock to wake me up. (ကျွန်တော်/ကျွန်မဟာ နိုးထဖို့ အလို့ငှာ နာရီကို မှီခိုပါတယ်။) This implies a choice to use the alarm clock. There might be other ways to wake up but this is the chosen method.

• The success of the project depends on the team's hard work. (ဒီ project အောင်မြင်မှုဟာ အဖွဲ့ရဲ့ ကြိုးစားအားထုတ်မှုပေါ်မှာ မူတည်ပါတယ်။) Here, success is entirely dependent on the team.

• You can rely on John to finish the job on time. (John က အလုပ်ကို အချိန်မီ ပြီးအောင်လုပ်မယ်ဆိုတာ ယုံကြည်လို့ရပါတယ်။) This emphasizes John’s dependability and trustworthiness.

"Depend" က ပိုပြီး passive သဘောရှိပြီး "rely" က active သဘောရှိတယ်လို့ ပြောလို့ရပါတယ်။
