အင်္ဂလိပ်စာသင်ယူနေတဲ့ ကျောင်းသားလူငယ်တွေအတွက် Evaluate နဲ့ Assess ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ တူညီတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်တွေ ပါဝင်ပေမယ့် သုံးစွဲပုံမှာတော့ ကွာခြားချက်ရှိပါတယ်။ Evaluate ဆိုတာ တစ်ခုခုရဲ့တန်ဖိုး၊ အရည်အသွေး၊ သို့မဟုတ် အရေးပါမှုကို တိကျစွာ တွက်ချက် သုံးသပ်တာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ Assess ကတော့ တစ်ခုခုရဲ့ အခြေအနေ၊ တန်ဖိုး ဒါမှမဟုတ် အရေးပါမှုကို စနစ်တကျ ခွဲခြမ်းစိတ်ဖြာ သုံးသပ်တာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ အလွယ်ဆုံး ပြောရရင် Evaluate က ပိုပြီး တိကျတဲ့ တန်ဖိုးတွက်ချက်မှုကို ပြုလုပ်တာဖြစ်ပြီး Assess က ပိုပြီး ကျယ်ပြန့်တဲ့ ခွဲခြမ်းစိတ်ဖြာမှုကို လုပ်တာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

ဥပမာ -

• Evaluate the success of the project. (စီမံကိန်းရဲ့ အောင်မြင်မှုကို တန်ဖိုးဖြတ်ပါ။)

• Assess the risks involved in the investment. (ရင်းနှီးမြှုပ်နှံမှုမှာ ပါဝင်တဲ့ အန္တရာယ်တွေကို ခွဲခြမ်းစိတ်ဖြာပါ။)

• We need to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the new software. (ကျွန်တော်တို့ က အသစ်ထွက် software ရဲ့ စျေးနှုန်းသက်သာမှုကို တန်ဖိုးဖြတ်ဖို့ လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။)

• The teacher will assess the students' understanding of the topic through a test. (ဆရာမက စာမေးပွဲကနေ ကျောင်းသားတွေရဲ့ ခေါင်းစဉ်နားလည်မှုကို ခွဲခြမ်းစိတ်ဖြာမှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။)

• The doctor will evaluate the patient's condition before deciding on a treatment plan. (ဆရာဝန်က ကုသမှုစီမံချက်ကို ဆုံးဖြတ်ချင်လို့ လူနာရဲ့ အခြေအနေကို တန်ဖိုးဖြတ်မှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။)

• The manager will assess the employee's performance before giving a promotion. (မန်နေဂျာက အလုပ်မှာတိုးမြှင့်ပေးချင်လို့ ၀န်ထမ်းရဲ့ စွမ်းဆောင်ရည်ကို ခွဲခြမ်းစိတ်ဖြာမှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။)
