“Great” နဲ့ “magnificent” ဆိုတဲ့ English စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ ကောင်းမွန်တယ်၊ ကြီးမြတ်တယ်လို့ အဓိပ္ပါယ်ရပေမယ့် သုံးစွဲပုံမတူကြပါဘူး။ “Great” က ပုံမှန်အသုံးအနှုံးမှာ allgemeiner သုံးနိုင်ပြီး ကောင်းမွန်တယ်၊ ကြီးမြတ်တယ်၊ ထူးခြားတယ်လို့ ဆိုလိုတယ်။ “Magnificent” ကတော့ ပိုပြီး တန်ဖိုးရှိတယ်၊ ခမ်းနားတယ်၊ အံ့မခန်းဖြစ်စရာကောင်းတယ်လို့ ဆိုလိုပြီး ပိုပြီး formal သုံးစကားပါ။

ဥပမာ -

“That's a great movie!” (အဲ့ဒါက ကောင်းတဲ့ ဇာတ်ကားကြီးပဲ!)

“The view from the top of the mountain was magnificent.” (တောင်ထိပ်ကမြင်ကွင်းက အံ့မခန်း ခမ်းနားလှပါတယ်။)

“She gave a great presentation.” (သူမက စွမ်းရည်ကောင်းတဲ့ တင်ပြချက်ပေးခဲ့တယ်။)

“The palace was magnificent; it was a truly stunning building.” (နန်းတော်က ခမ်းနားလှပတယ်၊ တကယ့်ကို အံ့မခန်း တည်ဆောက်မှုပါပဲ)

“He’s a great musician.” (သူက ဂီတပညာရှင်ကောင်းတစ်ယောက်ပါ)

“The sunset was magnificent; the sky was ablaze with color.” (နေဝင်ချိန်က အံ့မခန်း ခမ်းနားလှပါတယ်၊ ကောင်းကင်က အရောင်တွေနဲ့ လောင်ကျွမ်းနေသလိုပါပဲ။)

“Great” ကို လူ၊ နေရာ၊ ပစ္စည်း၊ ဖြစ်ရပ် စတဲ့ အရာအားလုံးမှာ သုံးလို့ရပေမယ့် “magnificent” ကတော့ ပိုပြီး ထူးခြားတဲ့၊ ခမ်းနားတဲ့ အရာတွေကို ဖော်ပြဖို့ သုံးပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် စကားလုံး သုံးစွဲတဲ့အခါ အဓိပ္ပါယ်နဲ့ သင့်တော်မှုကို သတိပြုသင့်ပါတယ်။
