Jump နဲ့ leap ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ နှစ်လုံးစလုံး "ခုန်" လို့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရပေမယ့် သုံးစွဲပုံမှာ ကွာခြားချက်ရှိပါတယ်။ Jump က ပိုပြီး ทั่วไป (common) ဖြစ်ပြီး တိုတိုပြီး ခုန်တာကို ဆိုလိုတယ်။ Leap ကတော့ ပိုပြီး energetic ပြီး ပိုပြီး distance ကျယ်ကျယ် ခုန်တာ၊ ဒါမှမဟုတ် ပိုပြီး height ကျယ်ကျယ် ခုန်တာကို ဆိုလိုတယ်။ အပြင် leap ကို တစ်ခါတရံ figurative language (ပုံတူစကား) အနေနဲ့လည်း သုံးပါတယ်။

ဥပမာ -

• Jump: The cat jumped over the fence. (ကြောင်က တံတိုင်းကို ခုန်ကျော်သွားတယ်။)
• Jump: I jumped for joy when I heard the good news. (ကောင်းတဲ့သတင်းကြားတော့ ကျွန်တော်/မ ပျော်လို့ ခုန်တက်ခဲ့တယ်။)
• Leap: The kangaroo leaped across the field. (ကင်္ဂါရူးက ကွင်းပြင်ကို ခုန်ကျော်ဖြတ်သွားတယ်။)
• Leap: She leaped from the rock into the water. (သူမက ကျောက်တုံးပေါ်ကနေ ရေထဲကို ခုန်ချခဲ့တယ်။)
• Leap: He leaped to the conclusion that she was lying. (သူက သူမ လိမ်နေတယ်လို့ ချက်ချင်း ဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်ချခဲ့တယ်။) (This is a figurative use of "leap")
