"Overtake" နဲ့ "surpass" ဆိုတဲ့ အင်္ဂလိပ်စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ တချို့ အခြေအနေတွေမှာ ဆင်တူတယ်လို့ ထင်ရပေမယ့်၊ တကယ်တမ်းမှာတော့ သူတို့ရဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်နဲ့ သုံးစွဲပုံတွေမှာ ကွာခြားချက်တွေ ရှိပါတယ်။ "Overtake" ဆိုတာက တစ်ခုခုကို နောက်ကနေ ကျော်တက်သွားတာကို ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး၊ "surpass" ကတော့ တစ်ခုခုကို ကျော်လွန်သွားတာ၊ ပိုကောင်းသွားတာ၊ ပိုကြီးသွားတာ စတဲ့ ကိစ္စတွေကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ အဓိကကွာခြားချက်က "overtake" က လုပ်ငန်းစဉ်တစ်ခုကို ဖော်ပြတာဖြစ်ပြီး၊ "surpass" ကတော့ ရလဒ်ကို ဖော်ပြတာပါ။

• Overtake: The bus overtook the car. (ဘတ်စ်ကားက ကားကို ကျော်တက်သွားတယ်။) This sentence describes the action of one vehicle passing another.

• Surpass: Her success surpassed all expectations. (သူ့ရဲ့ အောင်မြင်မှုက မျှော်လင့်ထားတာတွေအားလုံးကို ကျော်လွန်သွားတယ်။) This sentence describes the exceeding of expectations, not a physical act of passing.

• Overtake: The runner overtook his opponent in the final lap. (ပြေးသမားက နောက်ဆုံးအကွေ့မှာ သူ့ပြိုင်ဘက်ကို ကျော်တက်သွားတယ်။) This focuses on the action of passing another runner.

• Surpass: His intelligence surpasses that of his peers. (သူ့ရဲ့ ဉာဏ်ရည်က သူ့အသက်တူတွေထက် ပိုကောင်းတယ်။) Here, we are comparing levels of intelligence, not a physical act.

ဒီလိုမျိုး "overtake" က လူ၊ ကား၊ သို့မဟုတ် အခြားတစ်ခုခုကို ကျော်တက်သွားတာကို ဆိုလိုတဲ့အခါမှာ သုံးပါတယ်။ "Surpass" ကတော့ တန်ဖိုး၊ စွမ်းရည်၊ သို့မဟုတ် အခြားတစ်ခုခုကို ကျော်လွန်သွားတာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။
