"Quantity" နဲ့ "amount" ဆိုတဲ့ English စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ ပမာဏကို ဆိုလိုတာ တူပေမယ့် သုံးရတဲ့ နေရာမှာတော့ ကွာခြားပါတယ်။ "Quantity" က countable nouns (ရေတွက်လို့ရတဲ့ နာမ်) တွေနဲ့ သုံးပြီး "amount" က uncountable nouns (ရေတွက်လို့မရတဲ့ နာမ်) တွေနဲ့ သုံးပါတယ်။ ရိုးရိုးသားသားပြောရရင် "quantity" က တိကျတဲ့ ပမာဏကို ပြောတဲ့အခါမှာ ပိုသုံးပြီး "amount" က တိကျမှု နည်းနည်း လျော့တဲ့ ပမာဏကို ပြောတဲ့အခါမှာ ပိုသုံးတယ်လို့ ဆိုလို့ရပါတယ်။

ဥပမာ -

• Quantity: He bought a large quantity of apples. (သူက ပန်းသီးတွေ အများကြီး ၀ယ်ခဲ့တယ်။) Here, "apples" are countable.

• Amount: He drank a large amount of water. (သူက ရေ အများကြီး သောက်ခဲ့တယ်။) Here, "water" is uncountable.

• Quantity: A significant quantity of rice was wasted. (ဆန် အများအပြား ဖြုန်းတီးခဲ့တယ်။)

• Amount: A large amount of damage was caused by the storm. (မုန်တိုင်းကြောင့် ပျက်စီးမှု အများအပြား ဖြစ်ပွားခဲ့တယ်။)

• Quantity: The quantity of cars on the road is increasing. (လမ်းပေါ်က ကားအရေအတွက် တိုးလာနေတယ်။)

• Amount: The amount of traffic is increasing. (ယာဉ်ကြောပိတ်ဆို့မှု တိုးလာနေတယ်။)
