"Surround" နဲ့ "encircle" ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးဟာ တစ်ခုခုကို ပတ်လည်ဝိုင်းရံထားတယ်ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်တူတယ်လို့ ထင်ရပေမယ့် သူတို့ရဲ့ အသုံးပြုပုံမှာ ကွာခြားချက်တွေ ရှိပါတယ်။ "Surround" ကတော့ တစ်ခုခုကို အပြင်ဘက်ကနေ ပတ်လည်ဝိုင်းရံထားတာကို ဆိုလိုပြီး "encircle" ကတော့ တစ်ခုခုကို ပတ်လည်မှာ လုံးဝ ပိတ်ဆို့ထားတာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။ "Encircle" က "surround" ထက် ပိုပြီး တင်းကျပ်တဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ကို ပြောတာပါ။

ဥပမာအားဖြင့် -

• Surround: The police surrounded the building. (ရဲတွေက အဆောက်အဦးကို ဝိုင်းရံခဲ့တယ်။) This sentence means the police were around the building, but doesn't necessarily mean they completely blocked all exits.

• Encircle: The soldiers encircled the enemy. (စစ်သားတွေက ရန်သူကို လုံးပတ်ဝိုင်းရံခဲ့တယ်။) This implies a complete encirclement, cutting off the enemy's escape routes.

နောက်ထပ် ဥပမာတစ်ခုက -

• Surround: Beautiful mountains surround the lake. (လှပတဲ့ တောင်တွေက ကန်ကို ပတ်လည်ဝိုင်းရံထားတယ်။) The mountains are around the lake, but don't necessarily form a complete ring.

• Encircle: The river encircled the small village. (မြစ်က ကျေးရွာငယ်လေးကို လုံးဝပတ်လည် စီးဆင်းနေတယ်။) The river completely surrounds the village.
